Synopsis
A senseless
array of high impact fast trekking martial arts interchange between two mysterious and dark characters who meet at an abandoned
graffiti complex. Who these characters are, why they are executing deadly moves remains unexplained. However, it is obvious
that both are skilled in the arts and have great martial mobility and strength. In the end, Johnny overrides Timothy and finishes
the job, swift and coldly. This film clip is the third part of the Project Vengeance Trilogy.
The Making of “Project Vengeance” Written by Maria Tran
Why
was “Project Vengeance” made?
Project
Vengeance, abbreviated to PV, was initiated by Timothy Ly out of sheer boredom and as a mode of entertainment. During this
time, Tim had verbalized to me that he was “craving” to shoot some action after an extended period of dialogue
scenes for the main running local film project “Maximum Choppage: Round 2”. It was an opportunity to set the stage
to come up with new and innovative ways to shoot fight scenes. Together, Timothy Ly and Wayne Pham had thrown ideas and visions
of how sections were going to be shot. Initially, PV was not a formal film fight sequence of any kind and any ideas were a
spontaneous exchange between the two friends.
When
was “Project Vengeance” shot and how long did it take?
PV was
shot between early September 2006 till the 11th October 2006. Basically, the onset there were 4 onset
shoot days that totaled to 10 hours .Some choreography were pre planned in Timothy Ly’s sketches but most was on the
spot improvised.
What
are some of the elements that Project Vengeance trying to incorporate?
Wayne
Pham, who is a diehard anime fan (especially “Naruto” and “Bleach”) has visions of imbedding some
anime elements into PV. Fighting styles of Tae Kwon Do and Kick Boxing were used.
What
film and camera equipment was used in the making of Project Vengeance?
Nothing
special in this department. There were plenty of people who have asked many times what type of camera this film clip used
and I’ve said on many occasions that it was just an ordinary Sony handy camera that any one can purchase. There is no
“shake” function on our cameras and all those effects were achieved by Wayne’s
dexterous and timely hand jerks.
What
has happened to Project Vengeance ever since its completion?
- Placed on youtube.com
- Entered into the 2007 Fairfield City Shortcuts Film Festival
and won the Best Editing Award and People’s Choice Award.
